Saffron Waffles

Saffron Waffles

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- A pinch of saffron threads
- 2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Cooking spray or additional melted butter for greasing

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Crush a pinch of saffron threads between your fingers to release their flavor. Add the crushed saffron to the dry mixture and stir well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Preheat your waffle iron according to its instructions.
  6. Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or brush it with melted butter.
  7. Pour the saffron waffle batter onto the preheated waffle iron, using the recommended amount for your specific waffle iron size.
  8. Close the waffle iron and cook the waffles until golden brown and crispy, following the instructions provided with your waffle iron.
  9. Carefully remove the saffron waffles from the waffle iron and repeat with the remaining batter.
  10. Serve the saffron waffles warm with your choice of toppings such as maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruits, or a dusting of powdered sugar.

These saffron waffles offer a delightful twist to the classic breakfast favorite, with a subtle floral aroma and a beautiful golden color. Enjoy these delicious waffles as a special treat for breakfast or brunch
