Saffron and Cardamom Simple Syrup

Ingredients:

- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads
- 5-6 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed

 

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat.
  2. Stir the mixture until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Add saffron threads and crushed cardamom pods to the saucepan.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes,  stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the syrup cool down for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to infuse.
  6. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any saffron threads and cardamom pods.
  7. Transfer the saffron and cardamom syrup to a clean container or bottle with a tight-fitting lid.
  8. Store the syrup in the refrigerator for future use.
